Bible Reading: Psalm 119:1-88; 1 Corinthians 7:21-40
“Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men” 1 Corinthians 7:23 (KJV)
The value of a thing is mostly determined by the producer. He knows the importance and function and all that went into the production of such thing. So he fixes the price. By the pricing alone, you can tell how valuable such an item or good is. God created so many things but man is the most important of His creations.
You are of great value to God. The most important thing to God is a soul. No wonder angels rejoice whenever a soul comes back to his maker (Luke 15:10). God’s love for man is expressed in John 3:16 (KJV), “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Your accepting His Son as your Lord and Saviour makes you His.
You are priceless. No man on earth can pay the price God paid to get you out of bondage. Your price is the blood of Jesus upon your head. Therefore, heed Paul’s advice because “ye are bought with a price, be not ye servants of men.” 1 Corinthians 7:23 (KJV). Never let the tradition or things of the world bring you below your true value. God brought you out to put you above all the things of the world.
The most important thing now is for you to keep God’s commandments (1 Corinthians 7:19b). Especially in the areas that have to do with your bodies and your life. Paul advised the Corinthians on the issue of marriage. Reason is for our bodies, soul and spirit to remain undefiled and fit for Gods work. No matter the problem that may arise, never go below the standards God has set in His word.
Be conscious of the ransom sacrifice of Jesus whenever you take any action that concerns your marital life or your bodies, if you are unmarried. God cares about that body. You were bought with a price.
