Bible Reading: Psalm 124-127; 1 Corinthians 7:1-24
Memory Verse: “When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.” Psalm 126:1 (KJV).
Our God is the unchanging changer. He does as He pleases. He changes situations and makes the oppressed to become the master. Or how do you explain the situation of the Israelites that were under serious oppression and a day later, they became the master getting whatever they requested and being urged to go to their destination quickly ( Exodus 12:29-36). They got to this situation because they called on God and He answered them. God always answers His children as long as they are obedient to His words. He expects you to be thankful and to pay your vows, after which He says “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.” Psalm 50:15 (KJV).
Are you going through any challenge, then ensure you are thankful, pay your vows if any and check your obedience to His word. Once you pass these checks, you can remind Him of his word in Psalm 50:15 above. One other thing is that He does it at the best time which may not necessarily be when you want it. This is where faith comes in. You need to believe that He will do whatever He says He will. God says in Isaiah 55:11 (KJV), “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
You should also realise that He may not answer you exactly the way you expect, but will do it in a way that is best for you though you may not know that much at the time. In addition, He expects you to learn from your situation. You need to seek his face to find out what He wants to teach you in the circumstance. It is also important to note that God is not a magician but a miracle worker. He will not do for you what you ought to do for yourselves. Our God will bless the work of your hands and so if you are not diligent, your prayer may not be answered. That is why the Bible says in Proverbs 10:4 (KJV), “He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.”
When God answers your prayer, it will be like a dream as stated in Psalm 126:1 (KJV), “When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.” God will answer your long awaited request as you read this devotional but ensure you give all the glory to him.
