Bible Reading: Exodus 11-12; Matthew 18:21-35
“So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.” Matthew 18:35 (KJV)
Unforgivesness is one of the main reasons why many are struggling, not only to serve God well but also to live peaceably on the earth. Offences, says our Lord Jesus in Luke 17 to His disciples, “It is impossible but that offences will come:” If Jesus could says it is impossible for us not to be offended then it is wise for you to always be ready to forgive.
Moreso, you will offend somebody some day even without meaning to, so why hold on to another’s so hard? Lots of people are having a tough time sharing same offices or work space with colleagues because of unforgivesness. Other have lost their peace because you can only do nothing against the truth but for the truth. Bible says if possible, be at peace with all men. It means you must give your all to let peace reign around you.
When asked by Peter how often should forgiveness be done, “Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.” Matthew 18:22 (KJV). The more you forgive the better for you. He further advises us to never let unforgivesness linger in our hearts overnight. The more you follow the scripture, the more at peace you will be.
Remember, forgiveness comes from the heart. God looks at the heart that is why He commands us in Proverbs 4:23 (KJV), “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Your life and your heart is the most important thing in life. Forgiveness is a command from God who also is always forgiving us. If you fail to forgive others you have determined your portion with God because He only forgives those who forgives others.
Prayer: Father, engrace me to forgive and cleanse my heart from every offence.
