Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 27,28; John 9:22-41
“They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.“ John 9:34 (KJV)
There is this incidence that took place during my university days. We were going to write our Continuous Assessment or CA test the next day and I was not really prepared. The lecturer, a very strict fellow, my favourite anyway of all my lecturers, though he does not know me in person, announced it immediately after class that morning. We have less than 24 hours to prepare and before now, I have not been doing well in my CAs, my exams were usually where I got more marks.
I remember spending almost the whole day in the library and just an hour before the Library will be closed, I was led to a topic I had skipped several times because it appeared too abstract for me. But surprisingly, understanding came, and I read till close of the day and left. The next day, the CA had only one question. It was all about the topic I read last in detail before leaving the library. I was told days later by our lecturer’s assistant, that no one has ever scored that high a mark in Mr Ogunlana’s CA in that course. Nobody in the class scored half of my mark.
I was surrounded by many of my mates when the results were released and was asked how I did it. I told them God led me to that topic in the library. Immediately, their faces changed! I didn’t even know how I mentioned Go; I don’t go to church nor was my behaviour that fantastic, yet, I knew something or somebody somewhere saw me and decided to open my eyes and understanding. My mates ridiculed me saying see ‘who is talking about God’. They left in disgust. But I kept that incidence in mind till date. God saw me and helped me.
Whenever you mention God doing something for you, the world frowns. They don’t want to hear the name Jesus. Even religious leaders in Jesus days on earth believed they have seen it all. But when God came into their midst they could not recognize Him. The man born blind acknowledged Jesus’ hand in his life saying “once I was blind but now I can see.” The bible says in John 9:34 (KJV), “…. they cast him out” for acknowledging Jesus’ Hand in his life. So, do not be surprised when this happen to you, neither be dismayed, just keep acknowledging Jesus everywhere and His goodness and mercy shall continually follow you no matter what the world does.
