…Spreading the gospel of Christ

TOPIC: WHO DO YOU INQUIRE FROM?

Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 14-16; John 9:24-41

Memory verse: “David therefore did as God commanded him, and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer” 1 Chronicles 14:16 (KJV)

Our Lord Jesus Christ lived a supernatural life here on earth and the reason was because He partnered with the source even while here. He tells us, “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgement is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me” John 5:30 (KJV). He went further to tell us, “And he that sent me is with me- he has not deserted me. For I always do those things that are pleasing to him” John 8:29 (NLT).

Before David there was King Saul who repeatedly disobeyed God’s commands. He would rather please men than God and after so many acts of disobedience against God, and not showing any remorse nor willing to repent, the spirit of God left him and an evil spirit entered into him. And from thence, he committed error continually. He never sought God, rather he sought help from familiar spirit (1 Samuel 28:7), a practice God hates.

God described David as a man after His heart. He sought the counsel of God at all times. He made mistakes too, and sinned like every other human but his humility to go to God in a repentant heart sets him apart. Moreso, he never repeated the same mistakes twice like Saul did. He sought God at all times and followed His commandments through. He asked God what to do again after he had already defeated the Philistines. But they came again and he sought God again and He gave him a different strategy (1 Chronicles 14:14-15).

The bible tells, “David therefore did as God commanded him, and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer” 1 Chronicles 14:16 (KJV). David’s success was tied to his inquiring of God and keeping His commands, leaving us an example to follow if we must be successful like he was.

Who do you inquire from and whose commands do you take and keep? God is the only wise God who created us to do His will. Only a close walk with Him can you know His will for a successful life.

Prayer: Father, I receive grace to always do that which pleases You at all times in Jesus name.
