…Spreading the gospel of Christ

BIBLE READING: ISAIAH 1,2; GALATIANS 5

“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.” Isaiah 1:19 (KJV).

God demands willingness and obedience from all his children. It is possible to be obedient but not willing. One can be obeying and yet murmuring. Such obedience is not from a willing heart. The person obeys not because he wants to but because he has to. Obedience can be forced on a person. The soldiers have to obey the last command. A slave or a servant has no choice but to obey their master. The obedience that God demands is a willing obedience that springs from the heart. It is a sense of devotion not duty. One obeys not just because he ought to but because he loves to do so. He does that willingly and cheerfully. Such is the kind of obedience required to qualify one to eat the good of the land.

The Christian land (believers world), the land of righteousness is a land flowing with milk and honey. Goshen and Canaan are both typologies of the Christian land. It is a land of peace, joy, love, goodness, blessings and glory. The bible describes it as joy unspeakable and full of glory. It is also described as the exceeding riches of Christ. Such riches are not only tangible but also intangible. The good of the land include, divine health, healing, deliverance, joy, peace, safety, access to the father, prosperity, indeed every good thing that make for fulfillment. The bible says, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” 2 Peter 1:3 (KJV). Even though God has made these provisions for us, their enjoyment is tied to our willingness and obedience to his instructions, and commandment.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, give me an obedient and willing heart.
