…Spreading the gospel of Christ

Bible Reading: Haggai 1,2; Revelation 17.

“Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.” – Haggai 1:5 (KJVS)

Yesterday, we talked about the need to re-examine your life. Today is a continuation as the Lord admonishes us to consider our ways. In Haggai 1, the bible asks the people of Judah to consider their ways. This is pertinent today. How are you treating people around you? Are you feeding in surplus and forgetting the poor? How well are you treating those working with you including your house helps, drivers, messengers, clerks and others, particularly those that are of very low level compared to you? In paying their emoluments, in helping them in their financial burdens and even family challenges?

Also at work, how do you deal with your customers? Are you one of those that cheat them in different ways? Even where they do not know, God knows! 1 John 3:20 (KJVS), “For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.” Do you use the wrong weight, charge them extra fees or sell inferior products as genuine? In Proverbs 11:1 (KJVS), “A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight.”

What about your relationship with others? Are you high handed, arrogant in your ways or you humble yourself before others. Proverbs 8:13 (KJVS), “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.” This is further highlighted in Proverbs 16:18 (KJVS), “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”

God expects you to humble yourself and he will exalt you as the the Lord Jesus says in Luke 14:11 (KJVS), “For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.” This year is coming to an end in a few days time, it is important that you obey the command of God in Haggai 1:5 (KJVS), “Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.” Are your ways right with the Lord Jesus? That is the best celebration of his birth you can have.

Action point:
List areas of your inadequacies in serving the Lord and commence addressing them immediately.
