Topic: What gift do you have for Jesus?
Bible Reading: Zechariah 1-3; Revelation 17
Memory Verse: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” Matthew 28:19 (KJV)
This season of Christmas is celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ and it is important that we keep that behind us as we go about celebrating. Today is Boxing Day which is a public holiday in many climes to continue the celebration. Several people give gifts prior to Christmas these days while a few others give after Christmas. The critical issue is what gift do you reserve for the chief celebrant; The Lord Jesus Christ.
It is easy to know the best gift to give to Him if you look at our memory verse today; “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” – Matthew 28:19 (KJV).
He asked all his disciples to go and teach everyone about the gospel and baptise those who accept Him as their Lord and Saviour. So you should go all out evangelizing knowing that the souls you win to Christ will be your gift to the Lord in accordance with His request. It is also important to note that for your gift to be complete, you need to follow up the souls that you win to ensure they are established in Christ. This can be done by sharing the word of God with them regularly or by you directing them to a church where they will be fed with word of God regularly until they are established.
However this can only be done effectively if you are also a true child of God because you cannot give what you do not have. If you are not born again, then you need to start by surrendering yourself first by repenting of your sins and accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, ensure you study the word of God regularly and also pray fervently to God Almighty. This way you would be giving the Lord Jesus a befitting gift.
God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him and He says in John 15:16 (KJV), “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” So having won souls unto Him and nurtured them to be established, you can take your request to Him and expect speedy answers because He does as He says.
Action Point: Ensure you speak about Jesus Christ to a number of people today with the intention of winning them to Christ.
