Bible Reading: Psalm 65; Revelation 21
“O thou that heareth prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come” – Psalm 65:2 (KJV).
Prayer is a communication with God, it is to a Christian what the air we breath is to our natural life. God has given us the means of prayer as an avenue to develop meaningful and vital relationship with him.
Prayer is also a means of having our needs met and our problems solved. Everyone have issues and it is a great privilege for one to share those issues with God and find solutions. Prayer of petition is one placing a demand on God to meet a need or solve a problem. God invites us to ask in prayer believing in his ability to meet our needs.
For one to have answers to prayer, one must first believe in God, that he is and that he hears and answers prayers. “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that commeth to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” – Hebrew 11:6 (KJV).
It makes no sense to pray if one does not believe that God hears and answers prayers. Answer to prayer may be yes, no or wait. God answers prayers in line with His will for our lives. He promises to meet all our needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. God does not supply all our wants. Any prayer outside God’s will for us cannot have a yes answer. God cannot endorse our greed, He is not out to pamper us but to perfect us. He will not mind our tears or the pressure we mount on Him or how serious we think the issue is. He builds our character by sometimes delaying or denying gratification. When we pray according to his will, he hears us.
“And this is the confidence that we have in him that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us” 1 John 5:14 (KJV).
PRAYER: Thank you God for your commitment to our prayers.
