Bible Reading: Psalm 95
“O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation” – Psalm 95:1(KJV)
God is worthy of our praise and deserves our singing unto Him. When we take inventory of our life and all we have been through we will realize that it has been by the mercies of God that we were not consumed. God’s preservation and sustenance of our lives makes Him worthy of our songs of praise and thanksgiving. Actually, God is the rock of our salvation; It is in Him we are firmly rooted, unmovable. Anchoring on His love, even when we err, He does not abandon us but corrects us, and still draw us nigh to Himself. His love is past finding out; His mercies endures forever.
As a father He corrects us with love and provide us with protection from the wicked enemies of our life. We are living in a very deceptive world where the person you call a brother stabs you from the back and be claiming righteousness. The bible says that “the heart of man is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it” – Jeremiah 17:9(KJV). This is the man you live with, work with and relate with on daily basis. This is why the Psalmist said, “If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us. Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken and we are escaped” – Psalm 124:2,6&7 (KJV).
When we consider the level of wickedness among men and our daily escape from it, we will have so much reason to sing unto our God songs of praise. On daily basis we are victims of diverse experiences ranging from treachery, lies, gossip, false witnesses, false accusation to crime of different dimensions etc, but it has been God who was on our side that has consistently delivered us from these evil plots of the enemy. This is what the Psalmist meant when he said, “Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us: Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul: Then the proud waters had gone over our soul:” – Psalm 124:3-5 (KJV). We are alive today because of God’s continuous protection from all the wicked plan of the enemy. The enemy had plan to waste us but our God prevents his evil intention, hence we must make a joyful noise unto our God, celebrating our existence in Him. He is a great God who takes delight in protecting His own. He is the rock of our salvation. He deserves our praise and songs of thanksgiving. Therefore, “Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God and a great King among all gods” – Psalm 95:2-3 (KJV). When we consider the great acts of God in our lives we are compelled by His overwhelming love over us to praise and worship Him.
What love can be greater than a man paying the ultimate price of death to save his friends. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” – John 15:13(KJV). That is the love of Christ towards humanity. We can but only reciprocate this love by a complete surrender to His Lordship and give him quality praise and worship that is due him.
Prayer: Father, thank you for not allowing the proud waters to swallow me.
