Bible Reading: Isaiah 42:1-end
“To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house” – Isaiah 42:7 (KJV).
The above scriptures vividly capture the state of a man who is yet to be saved. Such a person is blind, a prisoner and dwells in total darkness. This is the position of an unsaved person. Unfortunately, this spiritual blindness of such an individual makes him very unaware of his terrible state. He lives under illusion and the horrible deception of the devil and considers himself free and believe he has sight. His confinement to darkness and prison house is within the confinement of what he terms enjoyment. The scripture reveals the same state for those that Christ came for in Isaiah 61:1 (KJV), “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and opening of the prison to them that are bound;” In order to fulfil this assignment, God gave Jesus Christ for a covenant. This is stated both in Isaiah 42:6(KJV) “the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;” and Isaiah 61:1a(KJV), “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek…” These two scriptures found fulfilment in Jesus Christ our Lord when himself declared in John 3:16(KJV) “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
The bible declares that Jesus Christ is the Light that shines in darkness and darkness cannot comprehend it (John 1:5). Jesus is the true light. God promised to make darkness, light and, crooked things straight by the coming and manifestation of Jesus Christ (Isaiah 42:16). He, being the light, will give light to them that sit in darkness in the prison houses and set them free. Release from this dark prison will come by the knowledge of God and His word, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free” – John 8:32 (KJV). It is on this prophetic platform that Isaiah said in Isaiah 60:1-3(KJV) “Arise shine; for the light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising”
Dear friend, from the above you can see the mystery of God’s divine love towards man planned out and executed in order to set you free. WILL YOU IGNORE this manifestation of true love from the creator of the heavens and the earth? I implore you today to accept Christ into your life for your total release from any captivity of the devil. SHALOM!!!
Prayer: Father thank you for bringing me out of darkness to be a recipient of your marvelous light.
