Bible Reading: 1 Kings 3, 4, 5, Luke 20: 1-24.
Memory Verse: “Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?” 1 Kings 3:9 KJV.
Wisdom is correct application of knowledge and it is important to get wisdom in every area of your life. Proverbs 4:7 (KJV) says, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” Since wisdom is the correct application of knowledge, one should start by getting knowledge .
Knowledge of God can best be acquired from studying the word of God, the bible. You also need to meditate on it to have a good understanding of the words. Thereafter, you are expected to live in accordance with the word. This is stated in Joshua 1:8 (KJV), “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” In addition, knowing God will entail spending more time in prayer, communicating with Him to make your requests to him and also hear Him respond to you. He will give you more instructions and revelations that will make you wise.
Godly Wisdom will give long life of peace, (Proverbs 3:2) make you find favour with God and man ( proverbs 3:4), have a good health ( Proverbs 3:8), live a life of discipline ( Proverbs 3:11-12), and make good decisions that will make you live well (Proverbs 3:23). How then do you know those who have godly wisdom? Matthew 7:16 (KJV) says, “Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” Those with godly wisdom will be able to
a) hold their tongues. Proverbs 29:11 (KJV), “A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.”
b) make good decisions. Isaiah 30:21 (KJV), “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”
c) impart wisdom to others (1 Kings 4:29-34)
d) let God fight their battles. Romans 12:19 (KJV), “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”
e) be angry but sin not . Ephesians 4:26 (KJV), “Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:”
f ) lean on God Always. Proverbs 3:6-7 (KJV), “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.”
Godly wisdom is therefore profitable for true children of God and should be sought with all your heart.
Prayer point: Father fill me afresh with your wisdom from above in Jesus name.
