TOPIC: WORSHIP FROM ANOTHER REALM
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” – John 4:23-24
In Psalms 141:2 David said, “Let my prayer be set before You as INCENSE, the lifting up of my hands as the EVENING Sacrifice.” David knew that the sacrifice had to be offered in the temple, but rather than waiting for a physical temple to offer his worship and sacrifice, while on the run he saw himself as God’s temple and understood that his lifted hands were the sacrifice. In our text Jesus said, “… worshipping the Father will not be a matter of the RIGHT PLACE but with the RIGHT HEART…”
What king David saw and understood is exactly our reality today as believers. We are the temple of the living God “For you[a] are the temple of the living God. As God has said: I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.”– 2 Corinthians 6:16. He indwells us and because the ultimate sacrifice – Jesus has been offered on our behalf and today through the power of the finished works of Jesus, we can lift up our voices in thanksgiving EVERYWHERE and ANYTIME to give God praise.
When we worship and lift our hands up to God in honour of Jesus’ finished work, it will interest you to know that heaven views and interprets our worship, prayer and giving as the sacrifices that were offered under the Old Covenant. Hebrews 13:15 says, “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, [a]giving thanks to His name.” For a believer, your sacrifices shouldn’t be in the morning and evening only, you are operating from a realm where you aren’t time or place bound.
If Old Testament believers worshipped and offered animals from this physical realm and got results like Elijah who called down fire at the time of the evening sacrifice (1 King 18:36-39), imagine what happens when you worship the Father from a higher realm in the Spirit in thanksgiving through prayers, singing and lifting up of your hands. Make thanksgiving your lifestyle and walk in continuous power.
PRAYER: Father, by your grace, help me to continually worship You in truth and in spirit.
