Topic: MAKE THE KINGDOM YOUR PRIORITY
Bible Reading: Exodus 21,22; Matthew 19
“But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
Many, in the world today, run after material wealth or riches. It has become the life ambition to be rich; to have money, material possessions such as cars and properties and so many other things that money can buy. But what does the bible say about these?
God owns everything in the world, and a good father will always leave or give good things (riches and wealth) to his children. God is a good father and wants us to be rich and wealthy like Him. But, He wants us to first have a relationship with Him, and only then can we know the real purpose for the wealth He bestows. Dr Myles Munroe, of blessed memory, once said that when the purpose of a thing is not known abuse is inevitable.
God wants you to have money, riches and wealth, but does not want these things to have you. For this to happen you must give God and His Kingdom the first place in your heart. When God has full control of your heart then He will enrich you and direct you on how to bless people with your riches.
Sadly, a lot of people have allowed the material possessions they have acquired to become their god. Some even worship money and strive after material possessions. After His meeting with a rich young ruler, Jesus told His disciples, “… Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the Kingdom of heaven” Matthew 19:23 (KJV). You must seek God first.
Jesus’ disciples gave up all they have for the Kingdom. Peter told His master, “..we have forsaken all and followed thee…” Matthew 19:27 (KJV). Jesus replied that all they have given up will be given back to them a hundred fold plus life everlasting. This is the riches that God wants you to have, a wealth that will not make you turn your back on Him plus eternal life.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for the grace to love You with all my heart, soul and mind. Thank you for giving me a balanced view of wealth and riches as it pertains to the kingdom.
