Topic: The True Source of Power
Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 21-22; Luke 22:1-30.
Memory Verse: “God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.” 2 Samuel 22:33 KJV.
Power comes from different sources. Some derive their powers from their positions and often forget that it is transient. It does not matter how highly placed you are, you will leave that position you occupy one day. It often amazes me when men forget about this and try to play God. For example, several years ago, Nigeria had a military head of state who wanted to transit to a civilian head of state. There were five political parties then and he wanted all the parties to choose him as their presidential candidate. Four chose him and we knew that it was a matter of time, the fifth one would also endorse him as their candidate. It then appeared that he would become the civilian president of the country unopposed. However, he forgot to consider the God factor! Then, one night he slept and never woke up the following day. So he died before the election when everyone had thought it was a fait accompli for him! So he was never a civilian president!
What is the position that you occupy now that you are oppressing others or taking benefits that you are not entitled to. Or are you depriving others of their entitlements? Be assured that God is on the throne and all powers belong to Him. No wonder the bible says, “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28 (KJV) .
Men, indeed, can do a lot of things particularly with a lot of scientific inventions but that is not enough to place your reliance or source of your power on men or its inventions as there is always a limitation. One of such limitations is COVID 19 which paralyzed all activities all over the world and there was no immediate solution from all scientific inventions and developments. This can be likened to various plagues in Egypt that the magicians and scientists of the time had no solution to. But calling on Jesus to stay them was the ultimate solution. Exodus 8:16-31.
God created all things ( Colossians 1:16) and so knows all things relating to it. He revealeth knowledge to those He chooses as He did to Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 2:28 (KJV), “But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;” So for perfect knowledge one should go to the source, God Almighty who will not only empower you but also show you the way to go. 2 Samuel 22:33 (KJV), “God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.”
