TOPIC: GOD FEELS YOUR PAIN
Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 26-27; John 11:18-46
Memory verse: “When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled” John 11:33 (KJV)
The way Jesus felt when he was on earth was exactly the same way every other man felt then and still feel today. That He lived a sinless life and perfect till the end was a great feat because He felt pain, He hungered several times, was thirsty, got tired while going from cities to cities and rested on occasions, got angry when the temple was being used for other purposes and now He groaned in the spirit.
Losing a loved one either in the family or a friend can really cause deep pain. Jesus groaned because He felt the pain His friend, Mary, and the Jews felt for the loss of Lazarus. He even wept (John 11:35). This shows that God feels it when we lose a person to the cold hands of death. Just like every father likes to see his children joyful at all times, God is no different, He intends for us to live a life free from sickness, pain and death.
Exactly four year and two days today, I lost a brother who doubled as a mentor. He taught me every thing from how to behave and respect people to believing in God, even though I didn’t understand that last part. But I watched how he prayed and trusted in God. But when he fell sick and critically ill because of wrong diagnosis for more than ten years, it was as if the world stood still. It became worse when the doctor told me the cancer has spread. His death was the first time I really felt the loss of a close person. It still hurts till today. But because of the hope of resurrection joy comes whenever his thought came to me.
That Jesus feels our pain is a confirmation of the love of God for us. This love continued even in heaven as seen in Romans 8:37 (KJV), “…who is even at the right hand of Gd, who also maketh intercession for us.” Always remember, Jesus is with you in that situation. He has given us the Holy Ghost to comfort us in all situation till His return.
Prayer: Father, thank You for sharing in our pains and the comfort that comes from You.
