…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 29/07/2021

Bible Reading: Psalm 49, 50; Romans 1.

Memory Verse: “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;” Romans 1:28 (KJV).

There are so many things that point to the existence of God and his ways. There are several scientific proof of several biblical stories. Besides, the existence of several features in the earth such as the human being, other animals, sun, moon, among several other things point to the existence of God. The bible has explanatory notes and historical explanations about God. While quite a huge number of the world cannot claim ignorance about God, very few retain their knowledge. Rather, they look for “convenient ways” of circumventing God’s principles.

Imagine having a club whose primary objective is to link two married people that want to have out-of-wedlock sex. Or a man signing agreement with his wife that he would be allowed to spend sometime with his former girlfriend who is now married. That girlfriend also got the same consent from her husband. A way of legalizing adultery! These things are happening now. Beyond this, people now marry animals, people of the same sex marry each other and other worse things under the guise of freedom of association!

All these freedom have grave consequences because God has decided to leave them in their states of depravity and so they get deeper into it and then bear the consequences on earth and also in heaven! This is what Apostle Paul referred to in Romans 1:28 (KJV), “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;” A sample of the various sins being committed by these people are listed by the Apostle in Romans 1:29-31. Now it’s important to note that it’s not only those who commit these sins that lead to death that are culpable but also those who encourage them. Romans 1:32 (KJV) says “Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”

So are you one of those that do not engage in these sinful habits but derive pleasure in those that engage in them. Then you are guilty as well. It shows that you have not retained the knowledge of God. You need to examine yourself and identify areas where you are sinning against God and then ask for mercy whilst also promising never to go back to them anymore.

Prayer point: Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, give me the grace to live a life of obedience to your word always.
