Bible Reading: Isaiah 16-18; Ephesians 1
Memory verse: “Because you have forgotten the God of your salvation, And have not been mindful of the Rock of your stronghold, Therefore you will plant pleasant plants And set out foreign seedlings;” Isaiah 17:10 (NKJV)
The chances of forgetting God is growing by the day. The worries of life, the deceitfulness of wealth, the pursuit of material things and the pleasure of sin can choke God’s word in the lives of believers and cause them to forget Him. When you forget God you stop praying and no longer delight in Him.
The aim of the enemy is for every child of God to continue to major in the minor issues of life that won’t truly profit us beyond this earth. Satan tries to lure many into majoring in making wealth and pursuing after money to the detriment of their life after this earth. But this can only be possible if you let him.
The believer is now in a location that cannot easily be accessed by the enemy. Ephesians 1:1(NKJV) tells us, “Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus:” Like the believers in Ephesus to whom Paul made mention, we are now “in Christ.” This is not just a location but a realm. And He has sealed our stay in that realm with His Spirit, the same spirit which was involved in the creation of the world (Ephesians 1:13).
The Spirit of God brings to our remembrance all that pertains to God despite our busy schedules. But He will only continually do this if you yield to His leading. Jesus was here on earth and understands what we go through daily. So His Spirit continues to reach out to you drawing your attention to prayers, praising God and studying the scriptures in the midst of the chaotic activities around you.
Not working with the Holy Spirit today makes one to forget God. When you forget God you lose His blessings and His presence which are two things we need more than ever in this end time. Be committed to walking with His Spirit and He will help set your affection to the things above rather than majoring on earthly things.
Prayer: Dear Father, I receive grace to continually work with the Holy Spirit for the rest of my life.
