TOPIC: INSIGHT FOR LIVING
“But there is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding. – Job 32:8 (NKJV)
It is only natural that God’s created man constantly seeks to understand his world and everything in existence in order to make his world a better place. This quest is the reason for technological advancements in practically every facet of human existence.
This quest for man is validated in Proverbs 25:2 (NKJV) says, “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to SEARCH out a MATTER.” The quest however can be misconstrued and used for evil purposes if it is not sought from the right source. When Eve sought insight from a source outside what God instructed by eating of the forbidden tree, man fell. This is what happens when people’s eyes are taken off of God in their search for insight, the devil comes to fill the vacuum. This is why many unsaved people are in the occult in search of light.
The devil told Eve in Genesis 3:5 (NKJV), “For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” The devil knew that the woman wanted insight because Genesis 3:6 (NKJV) says, “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate…” Eve was looking for what gives one insight because insight is actually a penetrating mental vision or discernment; a faculty of seeing into inner character or underlying realities of a thing.
It isn’t Eve’s quest for insight that was wrong, rather it was the SOURCE from which she sought it that was wrong. With God’s instruction, Eve would have been led to the ‘tree of life’ in the garden and would have had insight into whatever she wanted to know (Genesis 2:9;16-17) because trees represent sources of insight which is the same as wisdom.
Every child of God can access how ANYTHING and EVERYTHING in life works because of the Holy Spirit that abides in him/her. This happens by ‘eating’ of the Tree of Life – which is the Word of God. Paul told Timothy to give attention to the Word of God in 2 Timothy 3:15 because, “and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” Scriptures can and will make you wise i.e., give you insight for life.
When you open your mind to the ministry of the Holy Spirit as a believer, He will connect the dots in Scriptures for you and give you answers that are relevant in any situation because He is the true source of insight for living.
PRAYER: Thank You Father for concepts and insights from Your Word that constantly puts me over and ahead in life in Jesus’ mighty name.
