Bible Reading: Psalm 97:1 –12
“The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth” – Psalm 97:5(KJV)
In the world, powerful instruments are used to achieve the purpose of clearing forest to make it habitable. Heavy caterpillars are employed to clear thick forest, while explosives are used to break rocks. Explosives are of different categories. Some are of higher velocity which are used for relatively hard rock.
The call comes to the inhabitants of the earth and isle to rejoice at the presence of this God. The Psalmist, however moves forward to open our eyes to features that surround this wholesome God, which are clouds and darkness. What a sharp contrast! This clearly points out to us that our God is over all His entire creations. In the same vein, we hear of righteousness and judgment that are the habitation of His throne. No man dares play with fire. He would rather maintain a great distance with it, less he gets burnt, but this same fire goes before God. He makes everything including the fire. Hence, at His command, it obeys to carry out the apportioned assignment.
Just as fire cannot discountenance the command of God, rather, it fulfills His counsels, no hill, no idol and no stubborn element in the whole world can withstand His presence. This, therefore, calls for perfect reverence to this never-dying and ever-living God of the whole earth. In case you are going through any situation that appears rocky or even influenced by the devil to torment your life, be rest assured that no matter how heart disturbing, it may look, it can never stand in the presence of God. Storm raged in the days of Jesus Christ but when the disciples called up their master, He rebuked it and there was a great calm. Mark 5:35-41
Demons and all forms of afflictions recognize Him and they bowed (Mark 5:1-17). He is jealous over His inheritance to fight with all at His disposal for them. The only thing He wants you to do, is to depart from evil. “Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked” (verse10). Have you departed from evil of adultery, fornication, cheating and stabbing people at the back etc? Note that the same fire that burn the adversaries of the Lord shall eventually burn all unrepentant hearts! Why not come to Christ now in order to fully enjoy the presence of the Lord.
Prayer: Lord, help me to always know that your presence is with me. Help me also never to take this for granted in Jesus name.
