Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 3:1-22
“…As the one dies, so dies the other…” – Ecclesiastes 3:19(KJV)
We have an encouragement from the Scripture that everything under heaven has season and there is time allotted to every purpose. This is true considering the fact that each fruit that God has given to us has a time to come out and display its glory. As each comes out in its season, there is a purpose to perform. It has even been suggested by nutritionist that we should strive to eat the fruit that comes out in a specific season because there is a corresponding disease to combat. We have walnut, cashew, orange, mango, carrot, pineapple, water melon, garden egg, etc. Interestingly, each of these fruits has its time of appearance. They are not available in larger quantity all the time.
Just as the fruits rotate from season to season, so also, man should know that we have a brief moment of fulfilling our God ordained destiny here on earth. The Preacher helps us to see that, there is a time to be born and a time to die. Since, you have this understanding, it is important for you then to devote time to plucking, planting, building, keeping, throwing away those things which are not profitable for your spiritual uplifting. You are to make war with forces that are preventing the establishment of the kingdom of God here on earth. With the vigour that God has given you, the kingdom of darkness should know that a captain is currently on stage. Never forget that many people have occupied this stage before you and have left. I hope you remember these mighty prophets Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel etc. All of them came and they got the perfect understanding of the purpose of their existence and keyed into it. Today we read about them even after their departure having bowed to the common destiny of man- death. “All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again” – Ecclesiastes 3:20(KJV).
Are you conscious of the fact that each second gets you closer to the day when you shall bow out of the stage? Do not be carried away with the glamour of achievements around you. Jesus made a striking statement “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work” – John 9:4 (KJV). Friends, do not be caught unawares and unprepared by the common destiny of man if Jesus tarry His coming.
Prayer: Dear Father, help me to occupy my time with things that have eternal significance in Jesus name.
