“Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God” – Joshua 23:11
When we love God and obey His instruction it is to our benefit. It does not add or subtract anything from God. Our love for God is a reciprocation of His love for us, for it is Him that loved us first. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” – John 3:16(KJV). From the above scriptures we see God demonstrating his love to humanity first. This is further buttressed in Romans 5:8(KJV) “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”. No wonder loving God is the first commandment as stated in Mark 12:30(KJV) “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.” Your Love for God is reflected in your relationship with your fellowman. You cannot claim you love God while you are not at peace with your neighbour. “Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law”. God knows those who love him. When we come to the knowledge of the Love of Christ which passes knowledge it is then that we are filled with all the fullness of God. The love of God actually passes all knowledge, considering the price God paid out of his love to redeem us. It is unfathomable and inexplicable to the human mind. It beats all human knowledge and understanding. That the just has to suffer for the sin of the unjust while the unjust inherits the righteousness of the just is a paradox of the highest order. For such level of love demonstrated towards us it is only the reciprocation of a deep rooted love for God that is acceptable. When we love God from our heart he knows and he takes necessary measure to ensure our safety at all times. Our love for God provokes divine protection in our favour. God jealously protects them that love him. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28(KJV). The bible says that “all things work together for good to them that love God”. This is a blank cheque for all things. It is my prayer that the Holy Spirit will flood your heart with the love for God.
Prayer: Father, grant me grace to forever abide in your love in Jesus name
