“Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful” – 1Corinthians 4:1-2(KJV)
Stewardship can be defined as the act of managing property or affairs for another entity. Faithful Stewardship is therefore defined as the “act of managing a property or affairs for another entity in such a way that is worthy of trust or reliable. This is the stewardship God desires from us. Our stewardship to God requires committed service to God in advancement of the kingdom. God accepts our stewardship based on standards, which are the requirements for acceptable service that attracts divine rewards. Acceptable stewardship is the stewardship that has passed the test of faithfulness. What is required for our stewardship to be found faithful are as follows:
It must be done diligently: Hebrew 11:6. Until our diligence is engaged, our stewardship is not rewarded. Proverb 22:29(KJV) Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men”
It must be done obediently: Hebrew 5:8 We must follow after the order of Christ who though were a Son learnt he obedience through his suffering. 1 Samuel 15 22(KJV) “And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD?, Behold to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams”
It must be done sacrificially: Gen. 4:3-4. Abel sacrifice was sacrificial and it attracted God’s acceptance. In Psalm 50:5 the bible said “Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.
We must strive to work diligently, obediently and sacrificially in other for our stewardship to be consider faithful and acceptable.
Father, grant me the grace to be faithful in my Kingdom stewardship, in Jesus name.
