Bible reading: Genesis 22-24; Matthew 20:17-34
Memory verse: “And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee” Exodus 23:25 (KJV)
Sometime in July 2014, I was invited to a church service in another state. The journey, I recalled, took us three hours to get to the the church on a Sunday morning. I was not prepared for that journey as I didn’t know the location was in a different state from where I resided. But on getting to the church premises, the number of cars on the parking lot and the sheer size of the auditorium was something I have never seen before.
On getting inside the auditorium the crowd I saw in there was massive! I would later find out it was a 50,000 seater auditorium and the whole place was packed full! The man of God was already ministering. While taking in the scenes around me for I have never seen anything like this before, my attention was suddenly brought back to the man of God who was saying something very familiar and personal. He said a lot of people are being afflicted with sicknesses and disease without them knowing. And doctors will say it’s a change in body system.
The man of God was in fact talking about me! I remember falling ill severally with a recurring typhoid bacteria, while my siblings whom we eat and drink from the same water were all fine. According to the Doctors, my body is experiencing a change. That was the explanation given! But here in the service I suddenly knew it wasn’t any bacteria but an affliction. What was I to do? The man of God continued ; it doesn’t matter how or where it came from. Follow God’s word in Exodus 23:25 (KJV), “And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. “
Since 2014 till date, after keeping to the instructions of the man of God and still learning to serve God, typhoid is gone forever, never heard of it again and will never resurface as long as I remain in service to God. He has blessed my bread, my water and has taken away sicknesses and diseases away from life.
