BIBLE READING: 1 CHRONICLES 28-29, JOHN 11: 47-57
Memory verse: “And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.” 1 Chronicles 28:20 (KJV)
As we travel on the journey of life, we have dreams and aspirations and they come in different sizes and aspects. Some come very easy to execute while some are quite intimidating like a mountain before us. These are responsibilities we must achieve and we know it but the question is how to achieve such intimidating enterprise with little or nothing looking at the present state of things. This is where courage comes in. Courage is the quality of being confident, not afraid or easily intimidated even in the face of obvious difficulty or defeat. So many times, the reason we don’t accomplish great things is our inability to put our faith into action due to fear of the unknown. When we are faced with great tasks, our response should be that of courage and strength, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
David was to build God a temple but God refused him because David has so much blood on his hands. God chose Solomon the young son of David instead. You can imagine the scary feeling Solomon had when he got to know what was facing him. This is the same way some of us initially respond when we stand face to face with mighty projects which we are to execute. David advised his son Solomon, “Take heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.” 1 Chronicles 28:10 (KJV). So today I encourage you to do it for God is with you.
After you must have activated your faith in God’s ability to give you success, you must stand up and move into action. Faith in correspondence with action is what brings result. Peter would have remained in prison and possibly died if he didn’t get up and followed the angel. The gate only opened when they got to the gate. “When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.” Acts 12: 10 (KJV). Stop complaining about how to go about it and just do it. Summon courage and challenge that obstacle and in the name of Jesus, victory is yours.
Prayer: Father, I receive courage to do every impossible task before me. Success is mine to your glory.
