Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 28-29; John 11-47-57
Memory verse: “Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:” 1 Chronicles 28:2 (KJV)
The bible advises about the heart, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” Proverbs 4:23 (KJV). The heart is the part that holds us together.
Everything you do or will be is right there in the heart, depending on what you are storing there. What makes and defiles a man comes out from his heart.
God sees our heart and works with us based on what we allow to dwell there. Jeremiah 17:10 (KJV) says, “I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” Be careful what you carry in your heart, it will soon manifest in your life.
David never told anyone of his plan to build God a house; he carried it in his heart and God saw it and acknowledged it, though the honour was given to one that will come out of his loins. However, David was commended for harboring such a noble thought; one never thought of by any man. How he even conceived of it is mind blowing! The bible tells us that as a man thinks in his heart so is he (Proverbs 23:7).
What is going on in your heart? It is what you dwell on that is established in your heart. Apostle Paul gave us a syllabus for thinking to help our hearts in Philippians 4:8 (KJV), “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
Think on what you think always. Examine yourself daily to make you what stays in your heart is something that will build you up for what God has for you.
