Bible Reading: Jeremiah 20,21.; 2 Timothy 4
“But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.” Jeremiah 20:11 (KJV)
My missive for today is going to be tilted towards prayers. We are going to model our prayers in line with the above declaration of Jeremiah as stated above. Firstly, we must know who we are following, who our God is and what He can do. Jeremiah, in his knowledge of God, described Him as a ‘mighty terrible one’.
Jeremiah’s experience with God was more of a displeased God that was judgmental. He was a loner that was isolated because of what he stood for via divine messages to the people through him. It got to the point when he cursed the day he was born. His dejected and frustrated state was heavy upon him, he was powerless as he could not resist the instruction and God’s word to the people. He was being told of fearful judgment of God against His people. Being hated by the people and the scary prophecy coming from him he became a victim of mass conspiracy and traps were being set for him to be ensnared. See Jeremiah 20:10 (KJV), “For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.” Despite the judgmental prophecy and the consequences of his prophecies, Jeremiah has a precise knowledge of God’s terribleness and awesome power. As someone being sought for destruction he relied on the awesome power of God to deliver him.
My dear brethren each and every one of us as Christians (genuinely pursuing a sanctified life) are marked out in a grand conspiracy of the forces of darkness for frustration and elimination. Our only hope is to have an undoubtable trust and confident in God and His word. Over the years God has been encouraging us through His word to believe Him and trust Him as our deliverer. In Isaiah 41:10 (KJV) the LORD said, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed; for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” This is God’s promise to us. So like Jeremiah we must have confidence in God to deliver us, our enemies will not prevail against us, our prosecutors shall stumble and will not prevail. God has given us clear assurance. In Psalm 7:11-13 (KJV), “God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. [12] If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready. [13] He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.”
We must learn to bring God in our situation in prayers based on His word. We must learn to evoke His word in our prayers because instrument of death is already prepared for all your persecutors, be they witches or ordinary human. The forces behind those individuals is the devil, hence God gives those satanic agents ample opportunity to repent, but where they fail to repent God has already prepared for them an instrument of death. You are entitled to evoke this against them in your prayers.
Prayer: My Father, my God, release your prepared instrument of death against my persecutors who refuse to repent.
