TOPIC: THE GOD OF LOVING-KINDNESS. (EL-CHECED)
Bible Reading: Ezekiel 37, 38; 2 Peter 1
“Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the loving-kindness of the LORD” –Psalm 107:43 (KJV)
Our focal scripture for today attributes wisdom to understanding of the loving-kindness of God. This presupposes that if you are unwise then you do not observe and understand the loving-kindness of God. The scripture says that God’s loving-kindness is better that life. “Because thy loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee” Psalm 63:3 (KJV). God’s loving-kindness invokes His tender mercies in blotting out our transgression. “Have mercy upon me, O God according to thine loving-kindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgression”. Psalm 51:1(KJV).
God’s loving-kindness is for the living. “Shall thy loving-kindness be declared in the grave?”. Psalm 88:11a (KJV). God’s loving-kindness is excellent and draws the attention and trust of the children of men (Psalm 36:7). The loving-kindness of God preserves. “Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy loving-kindness and thy truth continually preserve me”. Psalm 40:11 (KJV). God crowns us with His loving-kindness as a mark of His divine protection from destruction. The Psalmist said in Psalm 103:4(KJV), “Who redeemeth thy life from destruction, who crowneth thee with loving-kindness and tender mercies”.
The loving-kindness of God quickens us in all ramification, spirit, soul and body. It enables us to observe and do according to God’s instructions and testimonies. “Quicken me after thy loving-kindness, so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth” Psalm 119:88 (KJV). It quickens us into a deeper love for God and His Word (Psalm 119:159). The loving-kindness of God directs and guide us the way to go. God’s loving-kindness manifest in healing and deliverance from destruction (Psalm 107;17-20). It manifest also in delivering the hungry and thirsty (Psalm 107:4-7). It provides salvation for those bound in affliction (Psalm 107:25-30). God’s loving-kindness manifest in establishing the oppressed (Psalm 107:40-41). “He raiseth the poor out of the dust and lifted up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory, for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, and he set the world upon them”. 2 Samuel 2:8(KJV).
God loving-kindness can be activated by praising Him for His goodness and wonderful works towards the children of men. “Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness and for his wonderful works to the children of men!”. Psalm 107:8(KJV). We can also activate the loving-kindness of God by crying unto Him. “Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses”. Psalm 107:6 (KJV). We can activate the loving-kindness of God through the voice of testimony. “Let the redeem of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy”. Psalm 107:2(KJV). As stated in Psalm 107:43, “Whoso is wise, and will observe this things, even they shall understand the loving-kindness of the LORD” –Psalm 107:43(KJV). The Unwise is not the timid or illiterate person but the person who rejects the all-compassing love of God that is eternal for temporary momentary gain and pleasure of this life. This great and abundant Love of God that produces His tender mercies is beyond life on earth as it stands for eternity. It is the man who ignores the call of God to His Love that is eternal for momentary reveling in earthly pleasure the bible refers to as unwise.
My dear reader, the bible says that God’s loving-kindness is better than life. I deeply appeal to you to accept Jesus Christ into your life now before it is too late. Christ is the consummation of God’s loving-kindness towards man.
Prayer: O Lord let me eternally stay under your lovingkindess. In Jesus Name. Amen
