Bible Reading: Exodus 25,26; Matthew 20:18-34
“And Jesus stood still, and called them and said, What will he that I shall do unto you? They said unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened” Matthew 20:32-33 (KJV).
There is this man who has been bedridden for thirty-eight years who stayed by a pool waiting for the water to be stirred for him to enter. Jesus saw him and knew he had been there for a long time. And the master asked him, “Do you want to get well? His reply? “Sir, I don’t have anyone here to put me in the pool when the water is stirred up; while I am trying to get in, somebody else gets there first.” John 5:4 (GOODNEWS).
There is a kingdom protocol here that must be clear. God wants us to be specific in our request to Him. All the man needed to say was “yes, I want to get well,” and everything would have been sorted out by the master. Jesus knows what the man needed, so in love and compassion He healed the man even though he was not specific in his reply.
James 4:3a (ESV) says, “You ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly.” Just before the memory verses of today, two blind men called loudly to Jesus as He passed by saying “Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.” In His mercy, the Lord stopped and asked them what exactly do you want me to do for you. We must learn from this reply of our Lord to the two men.
Be specific in your request to God. Do not be vague or ambiguous in your request. Although He answers whoever He wants to, but go straight to the point. He knows your need even before you came to Him. And He is willing to and ready to meet your needs. So endeavour to state your request clearly and you will see changes in your life.
Prayer: Father, by the Holy Ghost help me to always state my request to you clearly in Jesus name.
