“But “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you””. Matthew 6:33(NKJV)
Men have tried to change the sequence of this scripture by spending all their useful life in pursuit of riches in terms of what to eat, drink, wear and shelter, and at the twilight of their life they begin to seek for God. Jesus admonished us not to worry about our life as to what we will eat, drink and wear for life is more than food and clothing. (Matthew 6: 25-27). It is the worry for what we can get out of life that has resulted in desperation which consequently brought about unhealthy competition and rivalry. It led to very excessive greed among men. An example is the parable of the rich fool who never thought of others except himself in our today’s reading. God’s divine secret for abundant supply lies in obedience to His word. When we commit ourselves to seeking after the kingdom of God and God’s righteousness He takes responsibility to ensure that we do not lack. Hear what the scriptures says in Psalm 34:10(NKJV) “The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing”. He will provide for us abundantly. This He does to prove His name That He is “God our Provider” (Jehovah Jireh). No wonder the scripture says in 2 Corinthians 9:8(NKJV) “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work”. This was further reiterated by Paul in Philippians 4:19(NKJV) “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Many are walloping in abject poverty because they disregard this divine sequence. It pays to seek after the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
Prayer: Father, grant me the grace for a diligent seeking of your kingdom and thirst for your righteousness. In Jesus Name.
