TOPIC: ESCAPING THE POLLUTIONS OF THE WORLD
Bible Reading: Ezekiel 43-44; 2 Peter 2
“For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning” 2 Peter 2:20(KJV)
Our focal scripture today states clearly that there is a pollution inherent in the world, which it tags as ‘the pollutions of the world’. These pollutions are vast and numerous. Whatever action and thought that is contrary to the Word of God that result in sin is pollution! Ezekiel 22:10-13 enumerated what represents pollution such as sexual immorality that exist between parents and their children, abomination with a neighbour’s wife (adultery), defilement and sexual intercourse with a daughter-in-law, sexual affairs between a brother and his sister, murder, gain through excessive interest or usury and greedy gain by extortion, apostasy, dishonest gain, blood guiltiness etc. In addition to these vices are idolatry and fornication.
The only way out of these numerous acts of pollution is the knowledge of Jesus Christ who is also the incarnate Word of God. The focal scripture today is elucidated by the scriptures in 2 Peter 1:3-4 (KJV), “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption(pollution) that is in the world through lust.” The knowledge of Jesus Christ enables us to receive all that it takes to live a life of godliness that is devoid of pollution or corruption that originated from lust. The negative effect of pollution is referred to as yoke of bondage. When we receive the knowledge of Jesus Christ through the new birth we are set free and disentangled from the stranglehold of Satan and his prison of pollution.
The affairs of this world outside Christ is dominated by pollution and corruption which are substantially induced by lust. As Christians we are advised not to fall back, get overcome and entangled again by the world of sin and pollution, seeing that it will attract consequences which will be worse more than the beginning. Many brethren have taken this route of perdition which Apostle Paul warned against in Hebrews 10:38-39(KJV), “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them that draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul”. Without the knowledge of Jesus Christ, it will be impossible to escape the pollutions of the world and corruption in the world through lust.
In the current state of the world the level of pollution is unprecedented and require a right thinking individual to see through the evil hand of Lucifer at work. What will we say of children below 15 years of age going to do money rituals for them to be rich? How do you explain when a shameless mother proudly stated in the open domain her sexual escapade with her son? How do you fathom an Imam caught in human money ritual activities? What will you say of a pastor involved in having sex with many married women in his church and putting them in the family way? What do you say of a people legalizing bestial sex? How do you explain a lady being pregnant for a dog? We can go on and on enumerating the evil vices that constitute pollution sponsored from the pit of hell to further bring the human race to damnation.
My dear reader, the only escape from this polluted world is the knowledge of Jesus Christ and His saving grace.
Prayer Point. Oh Lord, fortify me through the knowledge of your Son Jesus Christ so as not to be a victim of the pollution of the world.
