…Spreading the gospel of Christ

Word Meditation: 7/11/2015

“And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee”. – Exodus 18:22 KJV

Every leader has responsibility to deliver results. How such results are achieved and the sustainability of the results depends a lot on the strategy adopted by the leader.

A good leader is not one that has all the qualities to achieve the desired result but one who harnesses the capacities of his followers to achieve the desired result. Everyone in a team has his or her potentials and capacity to contribute to the team but while some are quite obvious others are buried and needs to be brought out by nurturing and love.

Whether it is in secular or spiritual, ability to harness other people’s capabilities and also replicate your abilities in others make you to stand out as a leader. This is what Jethro, Moses father in law showed to Moses that he needed to delegate the judiciary function that he was performing to dispense justice on time and in the right quality.

Let’s hear him… Exodus 18:21-22 KJV
“Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:  And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee”.

Moses was told here that he needed to focus on the exceptions and let others deal with the minor issues. The key issue of delegation is key not only to ensure performance but to also enhance quality of life of all those involved. This explains why Jesus also chose twelve disciples to spread the gospel! Imagine a country where there is only Supreme Court and all cases have to be tried in that court!

Prayer: Father, Help me to recognize the leadership potentials of those around me and also enhance them to the glory of your name. In Jesus Name.
