“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? – Hebrew 9:14(NKJV)
Jesus Christ is our Lamb without blemish. He is also our scapegoat. As our Lamb without blemish His righteous blood which was used for the atonement of our sin was pure without spot. That blood purges our conscience from every dead works and enables us to be justified without guilt to serve the living God. He is our scapegoat. He was the substitute that took our place of sin. Leviticus 16: 21-22(NKJV) “Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, confess over it all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, concerning all their sins, putting them on the head of the goat, and shall send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a suitable man. The goat shall bear on itself all their iniquities to an uninhabited land, and he shall release the goat in the wilderness”. Jesus Christ our scapegoat and burden bearer had the cross placed on Him which represents the sin of humanity. In order to fulfill scriptures He carried that great and terrible burden of sin from the centre of Jerusalem to Golgotha an uninhabited place. For this perfect substitution the bible said in 2 Cor. 5:21(NKJV) “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him”.
The scripture has these to say, “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation …” Hebrew 2:3(NKJV). It is indeed a great salvation where the guiltless paid the price of the guilty, the just for the unjust. It is no wonder then that the scripture says we are justified by His blood. Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price for our sin in order to present us guiltless before God.
Prayer: Father, grant me the grace to fully comprehend the finished work of my redemption at Calvary in Jesus name.
