“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your re quest be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:6(NKJV).
Being anxious of something can erode your faith in God. Anxiety is a product of doubt and lack of confidence in the ability of your supply source. When we present an issue in prayer and remain in the level of anxiety we vitiate our prayer and peace eludes us. Not having faith in the word of God is the source of anxiousness. Being anxious does not get work done but instead creates unnecessary tension in an individual. Most times our worries are unnecessary and not justified. Trust and confidence in God and His word establishes our peaceful disposition. In our referenced scriptures today Paul the Apostle admonish us to come to God with Confidence, presenting our prayer and supplication with a joyful heart of thanksgiving for that produces the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. It is not something we can acquire from our intellectual knowledge but through our knowledge of God built on righteousness. In Isaiah 32:17(KJV) the bible says “The work of righteousness shalll be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever”. Paul admonishes us in Hebrew 10: 35-36(KJV) “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward”. Faith produces tangible and enduring result but anxiousness leads to fear and losses. Confidence in the abiding promises of God produce confidence and peace. Jeremiah 17:7-8(KJV) says “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but her leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit”
This is the lot of him that is rooted in God’s word. My dear reader worry and anxiety are the enemy’s terrible instrument that can lead to depression. God’s promises abound in His word and they are not written for mere formalities. God’s word is a carrier of the power of divinity (2 Peter 1:3-4) and has the ability to transform us. We must give ourselves to the study of the word in order illuminate and ventilate our mind from worry and anxiety.
Prayer: Father, I crave for your grace to meditate on your words daily.
