“He that spared not his own son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with also freely give us all things? – Romans 8:32(KJV)
The gift of God to humanity outwits all human knowledge and understanding. It is so great yet unimaginable what God gave to humanity in order to save us. God delivered his own for our liberty and salvation. He gave what is beyond conception in demonstration of his love for us. He gave his son in order to win us to himself. Under such dimension of love what will be so much to ask God seeing that he gave out his most precious son whom the scripture refers to as His power and wisdom. Romans 8:32 is a quotation of strong faith and absolute trust in God’s ability to meet our needs. What on earth can a man ask from God that will be greater than Jesus Christ his son that he delivered for us? NOTHING! God himself has demonstrated to us his love towards us by giving us the best, the question is what have we given him? None of our request no matter how big can intimidate God. The bigger our request the easier it is for God to grant us. As children of God we must emulate our father in giving. God is a great giver. He is always giving his best. Our giving as human is affected by our self-centeredness. Most time we give out the waste or less quality items reserving the best for ourselves. Our giving both to God and man is highly influenced by our selfish nature. That was the problem of Cain in Genesis 4:1-5 which resulted in the first murder. Abel gave of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof which was selfless and it was acceptable. In Philippians 4:18 Paul calls such giving as an odour of sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God. Most times what we give to people is our perception of what we can gain from them. This is a selfish giving. God gave us the best it is pertinent that we reciprocate by giving him all. Our gift to God must be acceptable as expounded by Paul in Romans 12:1(KJV) “I beseech you brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service”.
It is my prayer that the Lord will grant us grace to live an acceptable giving life before Him.
