Topic: God is my deliverer
Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 22-24; Luke 18:1-27.
Memory Verse: “He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me.” 2 Samuel 22:18 (KJV)
Every human being has adversaries; they could be external such as those seeking your downfall for one reason or the other. They could be internal; members of your family or close friends. Finally, they could be within you such as sicknesses, afflictions etc that hinder your well-being. Whatever the adversary and wherever they may come from, the surest way to deal with them is through God Almighty who knows everything. He knows the strength and weaknesses of both yourself and your adversary and so can easily deploy the most potent weapon to annihilate your adversary.
King David had a major adversary who was King Saul and he could not deal with him alone but he reported him to God and he dealt with him. Thus, he said in 2 Samuel 22:18 (KJV), “He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me.” Sometimes you may not know that you have an enemy particularly internally but your God who neither sleep nor slumber knows everything and will protect you even when you never thought you needed such protection.
Several years ago, I and my spouse were led not to sleep in my room where we used to stay but to go to another room. That night, a stray bullet came through the roof and hit our bed midnight! I or worse still, my wife could have been hit by the bullet and possibly died. But God knew of the situation in advance and led us to avoid it. This is why it’s important to listen to the voice of God in you leading you on what to do at every point in time. He says in Psalm 32:8 (KJV), “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” But if you are not a child of God, He may not direct you at all as you may be continually yielding to your flesh and even if He directs you at all, you may not hear because you do not know His voice. In John 10:27-28 (KJV) Jesus Christ says, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: [28] And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” If you are not the disciple of Christ yet, you can be one today by confessing your sins, repent of them and accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Thereafter, study the Bible regularly so that you know and obey the word of God. By that you become a child of God and He becomes your Shepherd.
Prayer point:
Father, please deliver me continuously from all my enemies in Jesus name.
