TOPIC: THE GREATNESS OF OUR GOD

Bible Reading: Job 10–12; Acts 8:1–25

“O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.” — Psalm 34:3 (KJV)

One of the most important truths about faith is that its effectiveness is not determined by having “big faith” but by having faith in a great God. Faith draws its strength from the One in whom it is placed. The clearer our understanding of God’s character, power, and faithfulness, the stronger our confidence becomes. The psalmist says, “As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him” Psalm 18:30 (KJV). Because God cannot fail, those who trust in Him can rest securely in His promises.

Many believers become overwhelmed because they spend more time focusing on their challenges rather than on the greatness of God. Circumstances can appear intimidating when viewed through natural eyes. However, faith grows when we deliberately turn our attention to God and His Word. The Apostle John reminds us, “Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” 1 John 4:4 (KJV). As we meditate on God’s greatness, His power becomes larger in our hearts than any challenge we may face.

When the psalmist said, “Magnify the LORD,” he was not suggesting that God can become greater than He already is. Rather, he was encouraging us to enlarge our perception of God. To exalt His name is to recognize and celebrate His works, His faithfulness, and His mighty acts in our lives. Thanksgiving, praise, and worship help us maintain the proper perspective. It is difficult to complain and magnify God at the same time. Therefore, cultivate the habit of remembering His goodness and giving Him thanks for both the great and seemingly ordinary blessings of life.

Always, choose to magnify the Lord. Refuse to allow circumstances to dominate your thoughts. Instead, exalt God’s power, His promises, and His faithfulness. As you focus on His greatness, your faith will rise, your fears will diminish, and you will walk in greater confidence and expectation of His mighty hand at work in your life.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for Your greatness, faithfulness, and power in Jesus’ name.

Pastor Alfred Samuel
