TOPIC: PLACING DEMANDS BY SPEAKING
Bible Reading: Jeremiah 27–28; 2 Timothy 4
“We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;” — 2 Corinthians 4:13 (KJV)
Faith is a foundational principle in the Christian life, and Scripture teaches us that it operates through believing and speaking. Romans 10:10 (KJV) says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Faith begins with receiving God’s Word into your heart and trusting Him to be faithful to what He has spoken. However, faith is not meant to remain hidden within you; it should also be expressed through your words and actions. When you believe God’s Word, let your speech reflect that confidence. Rather than allowing fear, worry, and discouragement to dominate your conversations, speak in agreement with God’s promises and allow His truth to shape your perspective.
The word salvation carries the idea of deliverance and preservation, and in the New Testament it encompasses God’s saving work through Jesus Christ. As believers, we can pray for healing, seek God’s wisdom for our families and businesses, and trust Him for provision and direction. Our words matter because they can express faith, encourage others, and influence the decisions we make. Proverbs 18:21 (KJV) declares, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”. Therefore, use your mouth wisely. Speak words that build up rather than tear down, encourage rather than discourage, and reflect the truth of God’s Word. Remember, speaking in faith is not about using words to control God or guarantee every outcome; it is about trusting Him and allowing His Word to guide your confession, and conduct.
Jesus taught His disciples about the relationship between faith, speech, and the heart in Mark 11:23. He showed that faith involves believing without yielding to doubt and speaking with confidence in God. Therefore, do not merely describe your challenges as though they have the final say. Bring them before God in prayer, speak His truth over your circumstances, and take practical steps in obedience to His leading. Whether in ministry, family, business, or career, let your words agree with your faith and your actions demonstrate your trust in Him. As you believe and speak God’s Word, remain patient and steadfast, knowing that the power and wisdom to bring about lasting change belong to God.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your Word and the spirit of faith You have given me. Help me to believe and speak words that reflect my trust in You in Jesus Name.
