Bible Reading: Job 33; James 4:9-17
“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”-James 4:17 (KJV)
The gospel of Christ is the gospel of good news and the best way to preach that gospel is doing good. Doing good is not limited to your family or those who are good to you but to everyone that you come across. This is the mark that we should leave as Christians anywhere we go.
In Luke 10:27-37, when Jesus Christ was answering the question of how one can inherit eternal life, he gave the example of a man who was attacked by thieves and various people saw him lying down half dead but all of them including a priest did not help him except a Samaritan who had mercy on him and took care of him.
Jesus told the lawyer who asked the question that he should do like the Samaritan i.e. Do good to all his neighbours. So for everyone that is interested in making heaven, we should do whatever is within our resources to help the needy around us. Be a Good Samaritan.
In fact the Lord showed us that our anointing is for us to do good. In Acts 10:38 KJV the bible says: “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”
When you fail to do good to your neighbours when you have the capacity to do so, the bible says it is a sin. James 4:17 KJV says: “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”
Prayer: Father, have mercy on me for all the good that I know but have failed to do in the past and give me the grace to be good always to all my neighbours in Jesus name.
