Bible Reading: Proverbs 8: 1-36
“I love them that love me: and those that seek me early shall find me” –
Proverbs 8:17(KJV)
There are many things in the world that are drawing the attention of man away from the main substance of life. The world is filled with the word love for this, love for that etc. We devote time to seek so many things early in life. Our prime which is meant to pursue the essentials that would give us access to our inheritance and whose effects would outlive us is grossly devoted to what is not capable of leading us into the ocean of treasures.
Our early moments are given to lofty things and this, good as it may appear, is void of the real essence of life which is seeking God early. These characterizes those who seek God: (1) They shall hear Him. (2) They shall watch daily at His gates.( 3) Waiting at the posts of my doors. In our lives we should never dedicate a greater part of our time and attention to the development of one area and ultimately neglecting the others.
It is interesting to note that this wisdom personified is Jesus Christ who has been before the foundation of the world and all things.(verse 22 -31. cf .1 Cor. 1:30-31). There is nothing we are looking for in life that is not available in this wisdom personified. His desire is to cause those that love Him to inherit substance and to fill them with His treasure (verse 21). Are you looking for durable riches and honour, find them in Jesus.
The love that He has for us made Him device every means to reach out to us. She cries, she puts forth her voice. She stands on top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths, she cries at the gates. She cries at the entry of the city, at the coming is at the doors, (verses 1-3). Who are those that wisdom is calling? “Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man” (Verse 4). Would you heed this call and reap the attendant benefits or ignore it and forfeit all that he made available for you. Remember, “Whoso findeth me, findeth life and shall obtain favour from the LORD. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death” (verses 35 -36). Put aside all hindrances and start seeking the LORD now. He needs you dearly by His side.
Prayer Point: Father, remove every hindrance from my way and give me grace to seek you and you alone all the days of my life, in Jesus name.
