Bible Reading: Isaiah 30:1-33
“For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.” Isaiah 30:15 (KJV)
Many times we have met disappointments when our friends or relatives promised to give us or do something for us. If we don’t handle it well, we can end up so bitter about what that individual did and even develop such resentment that makes us want to avoid the person forever!
Yet, it is like man to disappoint because there are many factors outside his control, including information he lacked at the time he made the promise. This is why we cannot win by trusting man or anything material that we or some other man has. Jeremiah 17:5 says “Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.”
God wants us to trust Him and depend on the Holy Spirit for help. Maybe you are right now hurting because of man’s disappointment. Why not turn to God? He will surely sort things out for you. Our God has ordained quietness and confidence as our strength of salvation. These two are major components of faith. It is our faith in God and His world that gives us daily victorious ride over evil forces such as arrow of disappointment which can lead to depression. (I John 5:4)
Prayer: Lord, I yield to your word and return to you with my whole heart. I will wait until my change comes from You in Jesus name. Amen.
