Bible Reading: Psalm 89
“My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips” – Psalm 89:34(KJV)
Our God is a covenant keeping God. God’s word is His bond. What He has promised He will fulfilled. The bible says that “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” – Matthew 24:35(KJV). God’s covenant are embedded in His word. The word of God is the carrier of His covenant to man. So if His word cannot pass away that also means that his covenant remains forever. The scriptural verse of today declares the immutability of God’s covenant and His word. The scriptures further illustrated the unchangeable nature of divine covenant and utterance in Jeremiah 33:20-21(KJV), “Thus saith the LORD, if ye can break my covenant of the day and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season; then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne, and with the Levites the priest, my ministers.”
God’s words are yea and amen. God is not a man that he should lie, whatever He says He will do He will surely do. The immutability of God’s word lays credence to our trust in Him and in His word. He is the unchangeable and infallible God who cannot alter the things that has gone out of His lips. We can put our faith confidently on His word and not be disappointed. Remember that our God is all seeing and all knowing, He speaks in accordance with His limitless knowledge. Age and time don’t affect divine statement. The future is very clear before God, that is why He only creates the beginning from the end.
Consequently, this means that what God has promised you has divine backing to come to pass. The covenants and promises of God are written very clearly in the scriptures and when acted upon by faith it will produce the desired result. God’s word created the earth and its time and seasons, that same word has the power to program the earth to work in consonance with divine order. We can put our trust and faith on His word and be guaranteed of its outcome. Jesus said in Mark 13:37(KJV), “And what I say unto you I say unto all, watch.” The word of God is universally applicable when acted upon by faith.
Jesus declares, “I am the way, the truth, and the life:….” John 14:6a (KJV). Being the way, the truth and the life Jesus is declaring that he is the one that fills all in all. His coming was spoken by God and it came to pass. His death was spoken by God and it came to pass, same with his resurrection and ascension. He is the word by which God created all things. It means that as the incarnate Word whatever he has promised must surely come to pass. He became flesh and dwell among us to be counted among us as brethren. Therefore, we can totally rely entirely on his word confidently. This is enough reason why we must believe him and embrace him for our salvation.
Prayer: Father, help me to trust you completely via your word.
