…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 22/07/2021

Bible Reading: Psalm 31, 32; Acts 23:18-35.

Memory Verse: “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” Psalm 32:8 (KJV)

Not all that glitters is gold is a common expression that shows that one cannot rely on the sense of sight always to take decision. There are times when things look good but are not the best for the beholder. This was the case with Adam and Eve. Eve saw that the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was pleasant to the eyes and she ate of it and convinced her partner, Adam to eat of it as well contrary to the instruction of God. (Gen 3:6-7).

The fact that something looks good does not make it good and that is why you need the advice of someone who has a deeper knowledge of the issue at stake. In business, we often seek the counsel of experts in various field of endeavour because we believe that they have an in-depth knowledge which may not be so easily discernible to others. It is in the same vein that we need to seek the knowledge of God in every area of our lives since God is the creator of all things. No one can give a better knowledge of anything than the creator.

It is amazing that out of love, God has expressly stated this in his word. He said in Psalm 32:8 (KJV), “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” The way to get this counsel is clearly stated in Matthew 7:7 (KJV), “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”

God shows that he loves us so much and though He has given us discretion to decide what we want, He has also shown us the way to ensure we do not go astray. His direction is the best we can get because He is not limited in knowledge. However to gain access, you must be known to Jesus Christ. He said in John 10:15 (KJV), “As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.” If you are not part of the sheep of Jesus, you need to give your life to Christ by accepting him as your Lord and Saviour and promise to forsake your sins and live according to his words going forward. Then He will send his Holy Spirit to you so that you will henceforth be shown the right direction in whatever you do!

Prayer point: Father, please give me the grace to always seek for your direction before taking any decision.
