Bible Reading: Psalm 79,80; Romans 11:1-18
“And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace: But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work” Romans 11:7 (KJV)
The grace of God is all man need today to be alive and well. Grace is a gift from God to man. If it is gift then it is not earned. Many Israelites believed that righteousness is earned by following the law, so they rejected Christ. But Paul insist that God chose them for Himself by His grace. It is what brings us closer to our maker and He gives us a part of Him that makes us invincible here on earth. God has always been in the business of preserving those He chooses to. He does this because He is our maker and cannot be questioned. But at the end of it all, His ways are always better than whatever best man can think or dream of.
Paul reminded us of the time of Elijah when the prophet thought he was the only one alive still serving God, He told him, “I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal” Romans 11:4 (KJV). God is still in the business of preserving faithful ones, by His Grace. Malachi 3:6a (NLT) says, “I am the LORD I do not change.” He wants all men saved. Remember, man was the masterpiece of His creations, created in His image and likeness. So, He sent His Son, Jesus to the earth as a gift to us to save us from sin and death.
No matter how good you try at keeping the law, you can’t! even if you think you do, it won’t save you from your sins. No ritual nor performing of good deeds can be a substitute for grace either. Remember, God saw the good works of Cornelius in Acts 10, but he still needed somebody to bring him to Christ despite all his good works and fasting. If Works, in any sense contribute to salvation, then that salvation is no longer by grace. Works have no part whatsoever in securing salvation.
So many people have been rescued by God’s grace from destruction. Testimonies abound of many who used to be armed robbers, gang members, cultist, ritualist, etc whose works and ways of life are contrary to God’s. yet, because He is their maker, and knows why He created them, He saved them and many of them are even Pastors today, blessing us with their testimonies of God’s grace upon their lives. So never you depend on your works in your walk with God lest you fall short of His grace.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your saving grace that brought me into Your fold despite my sins.
