Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 1-3, Luke 12: 1-34.
Memory Verse: “He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,” Luke 24:6 (KJV)
Jesus Christ was crucified on Friday and by Sunday, he had risen in accordance with the word of God. His resurrection signifies a lot of blessings for Christians. It means that Jesus defeated death as no one had died and came back alive before but Jesus died and destroyed the power of death, that is why He resurrected. Acts 2:24 (KJV) says of Jesus, “Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.” This is why Apostle Paul stated that we now have victory over death courtesy of our Lord Jesus Christ. ( 1 Corinthians 15:55-57). The resurrection means you are now justified before God because Jesus Christ has taken away our sins. He has made us right with God. Romans 4:25 (KJV) says, “Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.” having been made right with God.
And this is why you are able to get the Holy Spirit because Jesus Christ had promised His disciples that the Holy Spirit will only be sent after He had left. Since He resurrected and ascended to heaven, He was able to send the Holy Spirit to each of His disciples! “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” ( John 16:7 KJV).
His resurrection proves that He is the son of God as stated in Romans 1:3-4 (KJV), “Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; [4] And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:”
Also His resurrection gives all Christian’s a living hope of eternal life since our Lord Jesus is still living! 1 Peter 1:3-4 (KJV) states, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, [4] To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,”
Finally, it means that we will be raised like Him. He rose after the third day as stated in Luke 24:6 (KJV), “He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,” So we will be raised. 1 Corinthians 15:20-22 (KJV) affirms “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. [21] For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. [22] For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” Hallelujah Jesus is risen!
But all these are only for those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. For others, resurrection of Christ confirms the authenticity of God’s word that sinners shall perish. You can change the course of your destiny for better by simply accepting Jesus Christ today and you will also be justified!
Action Point: Please ensure you preach the gospel to at least someone today to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
