A lot of infections that lead to death are on the increase. While we have not been able to find a lasting solution to AIDS and EBOLA amongst others, two new ones have gained more attention this year: LASSA fever and ZIKA VIRUS.
They are all animal related. While LASSA is caused by rats, mosquitoes are responsible for ZIKA. However a new dimension to ZIKA is that it is sexually transmittable.
What is our response to this as children of God? OBEDIENCE to His word.
As disciples of Christ, we are expected to maintain a high moral standard and also a clean environment. All these will work to ensure we are saved from physical death in addition to spiritual death. That’s why Jesus says in John 10:10(KJV). “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”.
When Jesus says we should not have sexual intercourse outside our marriage partner, it is to ensure we have life. On the other hand, agreeing to the encouragement of worldly pleasure leads to sicknesses and diseases that end up in death in most cases. Truly, the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. And as the bible says in 1 Sam 15:22; obedience is better than sacrifice.
PRAYER: Father, give me abundant live in every area of my life in Jesus name.
