Topic: Cry unto the Lord
Bible Reading: Judges 6-7; Luke 8:1-21.
Memory Verse: “And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD.” Judges 6:6 (KJV)
In our Bible reading of today, we noticed that the Israelites did evil in the sight of God and He delivered them into the hand of the Midianites. However, when they became greatly impoverished, they cried unto God and he answered them. Judges 6:6 (KJV) says, “And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD.”
God is not interested in the death of a sinner or group of sinners but their repentance. Consequently, He sent the Israelites a deliverer from the most unusual source; the least man in a very poor family of Israel, Gideon. He was chosen to lead a handful of men (three hundred only) to face a a very large army of the enemy. The Bible says of the enemy camp in Judges 7:12 (KJV), “And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.”
But inspite of their large number, God sent the spirit of fear among them and that brought about disunity which led to their destruction. God does not save by numbers; He does as He pleases. All He expects from you is a repentant heart which is remorseful and ready to obey Him.
Are you going through any difficult situation? Examine yourself and identify areas where you have fallen short of God’s glory. Make all necessary amendments and call on God for mercy and repair your altar repositioning yourself for God by rededicating yourself to Him. Once you are done with this, worship God in humility and make your request known to Him. He will answer you as long as you are sincere in your worship of him.
It is important to note that God knows the heart of everyone. So if you have not accepted Him as your Lord and Saviour, it is important you do that first before worshipping Him because “the sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.” Proverbs 15:8 (KJV) .
