“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” – Acts 1:8(KJV)
It is the Holy Ghost that empowers us to witness for Christ. In John 1:12(KJV) the bible says “But as many as received him gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. This power is what is referred to in this place. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost is beginning of the emergence of the sons of God. The fulfillment of this prophecy witnessed an unprecedented boldness in the life of Peter. This same Peter who denied Christ three times out of fear stood up and addressed the crowd. Through his message on the day of Pentecost three thousand souls were added to the body of Christ (Acts. 2:41). The scriptures said in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”. Paul further stated the boldness that is given by the Holy Spirit in our new birth in Philippians 1:20(KJV) “According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death”Whether in life or in death Christ must be preached. The boldness to live for him is a product of the Holy Spirit, hence we must embrace the Holy Spirit at all times. In Revelation 12:11(KJV) the scriptures says “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death”. The main issue here is their stand for Christ: “they loved not their lives unto the death”. We have been given all necessary instrument of victory and we shall surely overcome, but what happens when we are confronted with death? Every one reading this piece must answer that question for themselves.
Prayer: Father, take not away your Holy Spirit from me so I can remain bold in Jesus Name.
