Topic: The Eternity of Divine Authority
Bible Reading: 1 Kings 19-20; Luke 21: 20-38.
Memory Verse: “Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.” Luke 21:33 (KJV)
The houses that were best of town twenty years ago are no longer fashionable today. Cars that were cynosure of all eyes just twenty years ago are no longer attractive today. Similarly, human beings that were very agile just fifty years ago are no longer that physically fit anymore. In the midst of aging, one thing stands ageless and that is the word of God. Jesus said in Luke 21:33 (KJV), “Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.”
So if the word of God shall not become aged like every other thing on earth, then the best thing is to know those words and keep them.
It is mind boggling how people, even men of God run after wealth in this world as if everything else depends on it. This is definitely a wrong approach to life. Though money answereth all things but it has limitations. It cannot guarantee you heaven after this world. You cannot even have access to it once you die in this world. No wonder our wonderful God says in Matthew 6:33 (KJV), “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” God sets our priority for us which is to seek Him first before any other thing!
A lot of people have chased wealth and when they become sick, they start to use the money to restore their health but unfortunately, it is often too late. There are some things money cannot restore; your relationship with friends and families are very key and should be prioritised because once they are traded for wealth it’s often very difficult and sometimes impossible to restore. And so you need to stop and take a stock of how well you are oiling your relationships; firstly with God, then your family and friends. If you are not doing well, you can make amend before it’s too late. Remember the word of God in Mark 8:36 (KJV), “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Focus on the word of God by studying your Bible everyday so that you get a good understanding of God and His laid down principles to apply to your daily living. May you never lose your soul in Jesus name.
Stay blessed.
Prayer point:
Father, give me the grace to meditate on your word, day and night from today in Jesus name.
