Topic: WHERE IS YOUR FAITH?
Bible Reading: Ruth 1-2; Luke 8:1-25.
Memory Verse: “And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.” Luke 8:25 (KJV)
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). It is the currency of the Christianity because without it, you cannot please God. In fact, you cannot make heaven without it because a man without faith cannot be holy. Romans 14:23 (KJV) says, “And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.”
The question is whether you have faith. Before you answer, please review the testimony below: A community had no rain for a while and decided to pray together to God for rain. They all gathered at the agreed location for the prayer but only one little boy went with an umbrella! The rest did not believe God would answer their prayers immediately!
A number of Christians behave this way; they pray to God but do not expect prompt answers. This is not surprising because the Bible gives us an example of such people. In Acts 12: 1- 17; Herod killed James, the brother of John and because he saw that the Jews were happy with that decision, he arrested Peter and kept him in custody with the plan to kill him after Easter. But the church prayed without ceasing for the release of Peter. God answered and miraculously released Peter who went to the house where prayer was being rendered for him. Alas, the people were shocked when they heard his voice; they did not believe it! The young lady that recognised the voice of Peter and told the prayer warriors was said to be mad! ( 1 Peter 12:13-17).
Where is your faith concerning the prayers you render to God? Do you believe God will answer you promptly? Even the disciples also showed lack of faith when they were in the boat with the Lord Jesus and there was a storm; they felt they would perish even with Jesus! In Luke 8:25 (KJV), “And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.” When you are in a challenging situation, pray and believe that God has answered your prayer and you will get your challenge addressed! James 1:6-8 (KJV) states further the consequence of doubt. It says, “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. [7] For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. [8] A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” Are you a man/woman of faith?
Action Point: Believe in God and His omnipotence such that whenever you call on Him, expect answers.
